- 16-17th - Fall Conference, Seven Springs
"Innovative Solutions for Affordable Housing"
We welcomed 312 attendees to the conference this year. On Tuesday participants selected from sessions by Mary Ross (HUD Occupancy Updates and EIV Best Practices), Frank Bangor (Tax Credit help to prepare for a File Audit and for Creative Marketing), and Plus One Consulting (Appliance Repair). During lunch, we celebrated the artists who participated in the calendar art contest (two of those artists had their artwork selected for the 2013 NAHMA Calendar - be sure to place your order today). At the end of the sessions, everyone gathered for a panel discussion on 'Reasonable Accommodation'. This year we offered 7 hours of Real Estate License Continuing Education Credits; 55 participants took advantage of this opportunity (accreditation toward the 2014 renewal period provided through Steve Chupinka, Academy of Real Estate Careers). Another special feature on Tuesday was the Vendor Marketplace, providing an opportunity for attendees to get valuable referrals for services. This year 22 vendors participated, many were familiar faces that we look forward to seeing each year, plus 9 new vendors were there. On Wednesday morning, Brenda Asbury presented a fun look at stress and time management; after lunch, participants heard the latest on the challenges facing affordable housing from experts in the industry: Jane Miller, HUD, Holly Glauser, PHFA, and Michelle Kitchen, NAHMA. The conference wrapped up with the awards presentation and prizes. Congratulations to all the winners and honorees.
